Empowering the Academic Community for Open Science: Training in Research Data Management and Open Science

Share this:

Open Science is at the forefront of transforming research and higher education in Europe. By fostering transparency, accessibility, and collaboration, it paves the way for a more inclusive and innovative scientific landscape.

Recognizing the crucial role of Research Data Management (RDM) in this transition, Unite!Widening actively supports specialized training programs, making the empowerment of the academic community a strategic priority.

A key pillar of this initiative is the training series offered by Aalto University, a Unite! partner institution. Running from March 11 to April 29, these comprehensive courses provide practical guidance on Open Science principles, aligning with the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) data management framework. By participating, academics at all career stages gain valuable skills to enhance the quality, transparency, and impact of their research.

Key Training Topics

The training programs cover essential aspects of Open Science and Research Data Management, including:

    • Principles of Open Science and their implementation in academic research

    • Best practices for managing research data throughout the research lifecycle

    • Developing effective Data Management Plans (DMPs) that comply with institutional and European requirements

    • Open access publishing and strategies for responsible data sharing

Strengthening Collaboration and Inclusion in Open Science

The Unite!Widening project is committed to fostering a collaborative and equitable European research landscape, where universities at different stages of Open Science adoption can share knowledge and best practices. By integrating these training sessions into the Unite! ecosystem, researchers and students gain access not only to educational resources but also to networking opportunities, strengthening interdisciplinary and international cooperation.
