The pressing societal challenges together climate change, along with the goal of achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), calls for fostering new levels of integration, adopting innovative scientific practices, and enhancing global collaboration. Sustainable solutions can only be achieved through the joint efforts of research communities of researchers, students, staff, faculty, citizens, companies, municipalities, citizens and international organizations (e.g., European Commission, the United Nations, and the World Bank).

Workshop lays foundations for impactful climate action

The EU-funded Unite.WIDENING project recently hosted a workshop to present the possibilities of participating in programmes and calls taking place under the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change. Launched in January 2024, the project is working to enhance scientific excellence and maximise knowledge impact by promoting collaboration between universities and partners from diverse regions across Europe.

LISPOLIS IGNITE! – Acceleration programme for ideas  and businesses

Lispolis, in partnership with HealthTech Lisboa, has launched the 2nd edition of the Lispolis Ignite accelerator programme, focusing on HealthTech. The programme targets startups in digital health, biotechnology, and medical devices, offering intensive training and specialized mentoring to scale their businesses. This edition will run in October and aims to support 20 startups through tailored sessions on key industry topics.

The X Unite! Dialogue: Shaping the Future of the European University

Unite! Dialogues are the key format to raise the visibility of the union within the member universities and to disseminate the Unite! vision among university faculty, staff and students.
This year edition of the X Dialogue in Darmstadt will offer the opportunity  to participate in various management and working group meetings, some of them introduced for the first time to meet the growing demand for transversal exchange between the working groups.

Exploring EU Mission Areas: Major Insights from Recent Events

The Unite!Widening project, launched in January 2024, seeks to weave itself into the fabric of the European University Alliance Unite!’s ecosystem, with a spotlight on the green transition and Horizon Europe Mission areas. This initiative sparked a dynamic three-part event series across Europe: from ULisboa’s Técnico Lisboa, Politecnico di Torino and Wroclaw Tech.

EU Mission Adaptation to climate change workshop held at Wroclaw Tech – Report from the workshop

On June 18th , Wroclaw Tech hosted the event “EU Mission Adaptation to Climate Change Workshop”, as the third part of Unite!Widening conference project. The event aimed to establish strategic research priorities specifically for Widening countries, which seek to increase their involvement in research and development activities , connected with EU Mission Adaptation to Climate Change programs.

You’re warmly welcomed to be part of the EU Mission’s Unite!Widening Workshop on Climate Change Adaptation. The aim of the event is to present the participation possibilities in the EU Mission Adaptation to Climate Change programs and calls.
The workshop will enable to exchange knowledge and formulate strategic research priorities for the Widening countries, with particular focus on top research priorities for Poland and Portugal.

Unite! stands for the future of Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities

On May 17th, Politecnico di Torino hosted in its historical venue, Castello del Valentino, the Unite!Widening workshop: “Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities European EU Mission” . The event was conceived in the framework of the “Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities” Horizon EU Mission, which aims to reach 100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030. The ultimate goal is for these cities to turn into experimentation and innovation hubs leading all European cities to become climate neutral by 2050.

The Mission on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities plays a significant role in contributing to the green transition. It involves local, regional and national authorities, citizens and businesses to deliver 100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030 and ensure that these cities act as Experimentation and Innovation Hubs to enable all European cities to follow suit by 2050.

On March 22nd, ULisboa’s Técnico Lisboa hosted the Unite!Widening project’s “Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters” conference. Unite!Widening is a project launched in January 2024 and designed to become part of the European University Alliance Unite! ecosystem.
