Widening Doctoral Programme Enrolment Coming Soon

Unite!Widening project offers direct support for PhD students from Wrocław Tech and ULisboa who conducts their scientific research in the areas, defined as strategic for Poland and Portugal. In the coming weeks, a call for applications will be announced. Selected candidates may receive an extra scholarship for developing their research in cooperation with industry and supervisor from Unite! university.

Industry-Embedded PhD School is one of the key initiatives of the project jointly implemented by the University of Lisbon (ULisboa) and Wrocław University of Science and Technology (Wrocław Tech). The concept promotes close cooperation with industry, mutual supervision (a co-supervisor form the non-Widening Unite! university) and alignment with at least one of the following strategic areas:

– Health & Biotech,

– Urban and Resources Sustainability,

– Circular Economy & Materials,

– Digital & Autonomous Technologies.

The participants are offered a support in a form of scholarship, awarded over a maximum period of three years.

Application Process:

The recruitment process will be based on jointly defined criteria and conducted separately in Lisbon and Wrocław. The applicants must be a PhD student at the Doctoral School of Wrocław Tech or ULisboa. At ULisboa, prospective PhD candidates may also apply.

Applicants will be required to submit the application form with the description of their research project its potential to be developed in industry as well as the summary of their achievements and motivation. Applications will be evaluated by dedicated committees in both Wrocław and Lisbon. The selection process may include an interview to assess submitted information.

Details regarding the application form and evaluation criteria will be published alongside the official call for enrolment. The announcement will also specify the application deadline. All relevant information will be available on the Unite.WIDENING project website and the Doctoral Schools’ websites both in Poland and Portugal.

Responsible Academic Knowledge Transfer: Insights from the EUTOPIA Alliance Workshop – April 3, 2025

On April 3rd, 2025, experts from Unite! participated in Workshop 3: Responsible Knowledge Transfer in Higher Education, held in collaboration with the EUTOPIA Alliance.
Experts from Unite! have joined forces with the University alliance EUTOPIA to discuss a macro-level perspective on European and Global policies and approaches to Knowledge and Technology Transfer and to consider the interaction between policy and practice. The workshop provided a valuable platform to examine how policy and practice intersect, and to reflect on the responsibilities of higher education institutions in shaping ethical, effective, and sustainable knowledge exchange.
