WROCŁAW, POLAND – On March 17-18, 2026, the Wrocław Technology Park (WPT), Unite!Widenning External Partner transformed into a high-tech crossroads where the future of European industry was negotiated. The “Digital Bridges: Turning Research into Regional Impacts” conference, a flagship initiative of the Unite! Widening project, proved that the gap between academic breakthroughs and market-ready solutions can be bridged with the right mix of infrastructure and international collaboration.

A Strategic Hub for Scientific Pragmatism

The event opened with a vision shared by the leadership of Wrocław University of Science and Technology (Wrocław Tech) and Wrocław Technology Park. Their joint message enhanced also by the opening lecture delivered by Prof. Agata Klaus Rosińska (Unite!Widening Project Coordinator for Wrocław Tech) underlined an importance  of a seamless translation of “scientific excellence into industrial pragmatism,” ensuring that high-level research yields tangible economic value.

The first day, dedicated to Dimension A (The Laboratory-to-Market Pathway), took participants on a journey through the complexities of commercialization. Expert speakers like  Dr Roger Uceda (CIM UPC, Barcelona), Dr Łukasz Jeleń (Wrocław Tech), Adrian Korbecki (Hetalox) Tomasz Matusiak ( SemiQa) shared their experiences as “translators” between the scientific community and the corporate world. They emphasized that while high-tech research in AI, Cybersecurity, and Robotics is the engine, specialized support networks like WCTT, AIP, ARAW and CiB are the transmission that puts that power onto the road.

The Power of the Unite! Alliance

The second day shifted the focus to Dimension B (Digital Innovation Bridges). As a key part of the Unite! Widening project, the conference showcased how regional success is tied to international scaling. By connecting Wrocław with university hubs across Europe—from Barcelona to Turin—the alliance is creating a borderless landscape for R&D collaboration.

Speakers like Jesus Alcober, Nuno Cunha, Tomasz Kajdanowicz and Pedro Rebordao highlighted the importance of funding mechanisms (EIC, Horizon Europe) and digital agoras in fostering institutional transformation. The consensus was unanimous: European innovation thrives when regional ecosystems stop acting in isolation and start building bridges.

Networking Possibilities

The organised  B2B Networking sessions facilitated direct dialogue between:

  • Researchers looking to scale their Intellectual Property.
  • Industry Executives identifying digital solutions for their manufacturing plants.
Closing the Gap

As the conference concluded with technical tours of WPT’s state-of-the-art facilities, the impact was already visible. “Digital Bridges” was more than a symposium; it was a catalyst for new partnerships. By integrating the academic community with the innovative business sector, Wrocław has solidified its position as a vital node in the European innovation network.
