The Unite!Widening project aims to enhance the scientific capabilities of Portugal and Poland, with a focus on elevating the global competitiveness of universities and advancing research, including initiatives like the green transition. Within this transition, Mission Ocean plays a significant role.

EU’s Mission Ocean endeavors to safeguard and restore the health of oceans and waters, leveraging research, innovation, citizen engagement, and investments. It adopts a systemic approach to address ocean and water health, crucial for achieving climate neutrality and nature recovery.

The “Restore our Oceans and Waters by 2030” Conference will focus on three primary objectives:

-Protecting and restoring marine and freshwater ecosystems and  biodiversity, in line with the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030,

-Preventing pollution from the oceans, seas and waters, in line with the EU Zero Pollution Action Plan for Air, Water, and Soil;

-Fostering a sustainable, carbon-neutral, and circular blue economy, in line with the proposed European Climate Law and the holistic vision enshrined in the Strategy for a Sustainable Blue Economy.

These goals align with EU strategies and laws and they will be central to the upcoming conference,  scheduled for March 22nd in Lisbon. To participate, register here
