Wrocław University of Science and Technology, in cooperation with Universidade de Lisboa, is pleased to announce the launch of the call for applications for the Industry-Embedded Doctoral School, an initiative within the framework of the Unite.WIDENING project.
The Unite! Widening project is proud to announce the definition of four Strategic Research Areas, developed through a rigorous analysis of institutional strengths, research performance indicators, and alignment with EU policy goals. These areas not only reflect the most promising domains within our partner universities—ULisboa and WroclawTech—but also support Europe’s broader ambitions for sustainable growth, innovation, and resilience.
Unite.WIDENING project offers direct support for PhD students from Wrocław Tech and ULisboa who conducts their scientific research in the areas, defined as strategic for Poland and Portugal. In the coming weeks, a call for applications will be announced. Selected candidates may receive an extra scholarship for developing their research in cooperation with industry and supervisor from Unite! university.
On April 15, the Wrocław University of Science and Technology hosted the Let’s Unite! fair – a unique event that gave the entire university community a chance to explore the opportunities offered by Unite!, an alliance of nine European technical universities working together to create an innovative model of education, research, and mobility. Attendees also had the chance to learn more about the UNITE! Widening project.

The Unite! White Paper: A New University Open Science & Innovation Strategic Roadmap for Widening Countries (link) developed under the Unite!Widening project, outlines a set of research evidence based recommendations in the form of strategic objectives, tactical actions, and operational outcomes.
Open Science is at the forefront of transforming research and higher education in Europe. By fostering transparency, accessibility, and collaboration, it paves the way for a more inclusive and innovative scientific landscape. Recognizing the crucial role of Research Data Management (RDM) in this transition, Unite!Widening actively supports specialized training programs, making the empowerment of the academic community a strategic priority.
Another insporing Dialogue in Barcelona is behind us! This meeting proved again to be an invaluable opportunity for the Unite.Widening project, reinforcing our shared commitment to excellence in collaboration, management and research.
From February 25 to 28, the Unite! community will meet in person once again for an edition dedicated to students and their role in shaping the future of the alliance. “Unite! students: our soul, our core” is the theme of this exciting event, packed with activities, interactive workshops, community work sessions, and high-level meetings with university leaders.
