In pursuance of the requirements included in Articles 13 and 14 of the Regulation of the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union (EU) 2016/679 of April 27, 2016, on the protection of natural persons with respect to the processing of personal data and the free flow of such data, as well as the repealing of Directive 95/46/EC (hereinafter referred to as “GDPR”), we inform you about the processing of your personal data on the Unite.WIDENING website.

General information

  • This portal is the official website of the Unite.WIDENING project.
  • The project is funded by the European Union. Views and opinions expressed are however those of the authors only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union or the European Research Executive Agency (hereinafter: “the granting authority”). Neither the European Union nor the granting authority can be held responsible for them.
  • The website was created and is maintained by Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (WUST), which owns the domain names directing to it.
  • The website is maintained on dedicated servers of Wrocław Centre for Networking and Supercomputing of WUST.
  • The substantive supervision over the website content is exercised by the Office of UNITE! & Academia Europaea Networks.
  • Using the website is free of charge.
  • WUST makes every effort in order to ensure respect for your privacy and protection of your personal details, while you utilise the Website, taking all necessary measures to achieve this goal.
  • Using the website of the Unite.WIDENING project constitutes acceptance of presented terms and conditions of the privacy policy and cookies policy.

Information on the Data Controller

  • The Data Controller is the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (PL: Politechnika Wrocławska, hereinafter: “Controller”) with its registered office in Wroclaw (postcode: 50-370) at Wybrzeże Wyspiańskiego 27. The Controller can be contacted via email: jmr@pwr.edu.pl or in writing at the address of the administrator’s office with the note “Unite!-Data protection”.
  • The Controller appointed the Data Protection Officer who can be contacted via e-mail (iod@pwr.edu.pl) or in writing at the address of the administrator’s office with the note “Data Protection Officer.
  • The User’s personal data is stored and protected with due diligence in accordance with the implemented Controller’s internal procedures. The Controller processes personal data of website users by implementing appropriate technical and organisational measures that comply with the requirements of applicable law. These measures are aimed at protecting users’ personal data from loss, damage to its integrity, or unauthorised access. Only individuals authorised by the Controller have access to personal data, as well as entities entrusted with processing personal data under contract or on the basis of a legal provision.

Purpose of data processing and legal basis

The purpose of data processing is:

  • responding to inquiries made via the website,
  • processing those inquiries,
  • providing newsletters,
  • facilitating registration for events organised as part of the project.

Personal data on the website can be processed for the following purposes and legal bases:

  • using cookies on the website and its subpages – Article 6(1)(a) GDPR (user’s consent);
  • analysis of data collected automatically when using the website, including cookies — Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (Controller’s legitimate interest);
  • management of the website – Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (Controller’s legitimate interest);
  • management of contact with website user – Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (Controller’s legitimate interest);
  • management of the social media (YouTube account, X account, LinkedIn account and interaction with the users – Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (Controller’s legitimate interest);
  • matching the content displayed on the Website to the users’ needs and constant improvement of transparency and accessibility of the information available on the website – Article 6 (1)(f) GDPR (Controller’s legitimate interest).
  • compilation of statistics audience and the effectiveness of the content displayed – Article 6 (1)(f) GDPR (Controller’s legitimate interest).
  • registration for the newsletter – Article 6(1)(a) GDPR (user’s consent);
  • registration for the events organised on the project – Article 6(1)(a) GDPR (user’s consent).


In accordance with applicable law, The Controller may store personal data for the time period required to fulfil purposes for which they are being processed. In relation to personal data processed on the grounds of Controller’s legitimate interest, the data are processed until an objection is effectively raised on the basis of art. 21 of GDPR.  In relation to personal data processed on the grounds of the user’s consent, the data are processed until the consent is withdrawn or the purpose of processing is achieved. In relation to personal data processed for analytical and statistical purposes and use of the cookies, the data are processed be processed until its obsolescence or loss of usefulness.

  • Personal data will not be transferred to a third country or international organisation


User’s data may be transferred to other entities with whom contracts for entrusting the processing of personal data have been concluded and to whom the data is shared on the basis of applicable regulations, including subcontractors, entities dealing with hosting, entities providing support and service of ICT systems in which we maintain our databases, entities dealing with the mailing of newsletters. What’s more, the information you provide can be made accessible to the relevant public administration bodies if the applicable rules of law require it.

  • No personal data will be used for automated individual decision-making, including profiling.

The rights of persons being data subjects

Wrocław University of Science and Technology as a Data Controller ensures that all persons whose personal data is processed have appropriate rights resulting from the GDPR. Therefore, you have:

1)  the right to access personal data, including the right to obtain a copy of this data;
2)  the right to request correction (revision) of personal data – if the data is incorrect or incomplete,
3)  the right to request the deletion of personal data (the so-called “right to be forgotten”) – in the following events:
   a) the data is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or otherwise processed,
   b) the data subject has objected to the processing of the data,
   c) the data subject has withdrawn the consent on which the processing is based and there is no other legal ground for processing,
   d) the data is processed unlawfully,
   e) the data must be removed in order to comply with the legal obligation;
4) the right to request a restriction to the processing of personal data – in the following events:
   a) the data subject questions the correctness of personal data,
   b) data processing is unlawful and the data subject opposes data deletion, demanding their restriction instead,
   c) the administrator no longer needs data for his purposes, but the data subject needs them to identify, defend or pursue claims,
   d) the data subject has objected to the processing of the data – pending determination of whether the legitimate grounds on the part of the administrator override the grounds of objection;
5) the right to transfer personal data – in the following events:
   a) the processing takes place on the basis of an agreement concluded with the data subject or on the basis of the consent expressed by such person and
   b) the processing is automated;
6)  the right to withdraw consent to the processing of personal data. To the extent you consented to the processing of personal data, you have the right to withdraw it. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of the processing of data which was made on the basis of consent before its withdrawal.
7) If you believe that the Data Controller’s processing violates the provisions of the GDPR, you have the right to file a complaint with the President of the Office for Personal Data Protection (ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warsaw).

The Controller informs that the above-mentioned rights are not absolute and do not apply to all activities to the processing of your personal data.

Use of the website

Using the website involves sending requests to the server on which it is stored. Each inquiry addressed to the server is recorded in the server logs. Logs include IP address of the user, server date and time, internet browser and operating system which is used. The logs are saved and stored on the server. The logs are utilised for website administration purposes, and their contents are not disclosed to anyone except those authorised to administer the server. The Controller does not use logs in any manner to identify the user. However, the information contained in the logs may include, among others, the user’s IP address, platform and internet browser type, internet provider and the website address from which the user accessed the website. These data will not be combined with personal data provided by users.

The information provided on this website does not constitute consultation or specific recommendations, nor does it pertain to individual factual circumstances. The Controller bears no responsibility for the use of the website’s content or for actions or omissions based upon it.

General information clause regarding the processing of personal data – in case of attending the events on the Unite.WIDENING project

Under Article 13(1) and (2) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation), hereinafter referred to as ‘GDPR’, please be informed that:

  1. The Data Controller is the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (PL: Politechnika Wrocławska, hereinafter: “Controller”) with its registered office in Wroclaw (postcode: 50-370) at Wybrzeże Wyspiańskiego 27. The Controller can be contacted via email: jmr@pwr.edu.pl or in writing at the address of the administrator’s office with the note “Unite!-Data protection”.
  2. The Controller appointed the Data Protection Officer who can be contacted via e-mail (iod@pwr.edu.pl) or in writing at the address of the administrator’s office with the note “Data Protection Officer”.
  3. Personal data will be processed in order to organisation of the conferences, workshops, hackathons and other events on the Unite.WIDENING project (hereinafter: “the Project”), including registration of the participants, making make materials available, providing additional services, (including communication services) on the basis of the article 6 (1) (a) of the GDPR and for the purpose of marketing, promotion and sales of services processing your personal data on the basis of execution of the legitimate interests of the administrator of personal data (legal basis: art. 6 para.1 letter f GDPR). The use of your data for the purposes of marketing the personal data administrator’s goods and services will take place on the basis of separate consents granted on the basis of art. 10 of the Act on the provision of electronic services and on behalf art. 172 of the Telecommunications Law.
  4. Registration for the event means consent for processing personal data, including first name, surname, e-mail address, contact phone, and other contact details, organisational affiliation and, if necessary, other data – such as specific dietary expectations or need for other forms of support from the organiser, accommodation details etc. – needed for the preparation and conducting the event, providing materials and services for participants.
  5. By taking part in the event, you agree to use of your image free of charge, recorded in using video and audio recording devices, through its publication, whole or in part, on social media profiles and on the website of the Controller and Partners of the Project as well as in the publications, presentations, videos, information materials, produced by the Controller or by its order, disseminated by the Controller in connection with the organization of the event or its information or promotional activities. If you do not wish to use their image and do not accept the use of such data, you should – before sharing your information – confirm the possibility of opting out of such processing of your data with the organiser’s representative.
  6. The Controller will process personal data for a period which is necessary for the specific purpose of processing, subject to the provisions on archiving which specify the mandatory storage period for documents. The organiser of the event may ask Participants to agree to have their data saved for future notifications, e.g. about future editions of the event or similar events.
  7. The recipients of the personal data will be employees of the Controller, entitled to organisation of the event. Your personal data can be transferred to the:

1) authorized employees of the Controller,

2) Partners – co-organisers of the event,

3) entities providing additional services, including communication services

  1. Personal data will not be transferred to a third country or international organisation.
  2. Personal data will be stored for the period necessary for the proper implementation and settlement of the event.
  3. Our university as a Data Controller ensures that all persons whose personal data is processed have appropriate rights resulting from the GDPR. Therefore, you have:
  • the right to access personal data, including the right to obtain a copy of this data;
  • the right to request correction (revision) of personal data – if the data is incorrect or incomplete;

8) Providing your personal data is a condition for registration in the event. Refusal to provide data will result in being unable to participate in the event.
