In the heart of Europe’s decision-making hub, Brussels, the Unite!Widening project is set to host a landmark event: “From Widening to Transformation: European Universities as Engines of Inclusion and Innovation.” Taking place on 17–18 June 2026 at the NCBR Centre in Brussels, this conference represents more than a meeting of minds—it is a strategic call to action for the future of European science and education.

The Unite! alliance will host an in-person matchmaking workshop at Politecnico di Torino on 12–13 May 2026. This event serves as a strategic follow-up to the virtual matchmaking session held on 19 March 2026, which involved over 170 researchers interested in Horizon Europe grant application

The Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) is proud to host the upcoming Unite! Widening Training Series from May 26 to 28, 2026. This intensive “lunch-to-lunch” program has been specifically curated for PhD students and Early Career Researchers from both Unite! partner institutions and Widening universities.

The first round of Unite!Widening’s matchmaking activities aimed at building competitive Horizon Europe consortia has surpassed expectations. Researchers from across the Unite! alliance and its partners engaged in discussions on 23 Horizon Europe calls, with the most promising initiatives set to progress to an in-person matchmaking workshop in Turin.

WROCŁAW, POLAND – On March 17-18, 2026, the Wrocław Technology Park (WPT), UNite Widenning External Partner transformed into a high-tech crossroads where the future of European industry was negotiated. The “Digital Bridges: Turning Research into Regional Impacts” conference, a flagship initiative of the Unite! Widening project, proved that the gap between academic breakthroughs and market-ready solutions can be bridged with the right mix of infrastructure and international collaboration.

ULisboa and Wrocław Tech invite members of the research expert communities working within the Strategic Areas of the project, as well as other interested stakeholders, to take part in a series of workshops taking place this April in Lisbon and Wrocław.

As part of the Unite.WIDENING project, the Unite! alliance is organising a matchmaking with the aim of forging new consortia for highly promising Horizon Europe applications.  The event is addressed to researchers of the Unite! university alliance, as well as the non-academic partners of the project. 

The landscape of European higher education reached a significant milestone recently with the launch of the Unite! Widening Digital Campus in November 2025, an initiative dedicated to bridging the gap between academia and industry. Important  to this initiative is also Agora, a virtual platform that serves as a “meeting point” for universities, researchers, and students to engage directly with external businesses and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs)
